I'm Brandon, a Full-stack developer with a passion for front-end. I love picking up new tech and always want to know how everything works. I’m a natural learner and teacher. I can be reached at: firstname.lastname@example.org
I have always been a “computer guy.” My friends know who to come to when their mac blinks the grey-screen-of-death. I even worked as a desktop support tech in college, but I always thought developing was too hard for me. Still, I taught myself Python with a free online book for my senior thesis: using a climate model written completely in Python (I graduated with a B.S. in Geosciences). After college, I let my Python knowledge slip away but continued to surround myself with tech. I worked in the GeoSciences field, most enthralled when science and tech met. I digitally mapped the web of roads in America’s National Forests, built a Wordpress site for a non-profit dedicated to protecting a Montana watershed, and taught a class to middle schoolers on basic web development. In 2016 my life changed when I co-founded FeatureMe. My partner handled the product fulfillment, while I handled the tech. Well, "handle" may be too weak of a verb. I lived the tech. I spent hours solving problems, the time whizzing by, implementing my endless list of features to make product fulfillment just that much smoother. But I was using Squarespace and felt very limited. After a year of FeatureMe, I decided to step down from the operation to seriously pursue what I discovered was my true passion — web development. From a mixture of Udemy courses, online courses, friends, and endless articles, I learned what I know today. I encourage you to browse my portfolio and check out my GitHub to see the skills I’ve cultivated. I’m no longer a developer in denial. Now, I’m a developer. ~Brandon
This was built as a developer test. It's based on these two pngs and some basic requirements. It's built with React and designed purely with CSS.
I'm currently on the road and I built this app as a unique way to share my trip with friends and family while practicing coding. There are still countless features I want to implement!
This full stack app allows commenting, new submissions, editing and deleting of data and includes authorization and authentication.
This website for City Style, a clothing boutique in Michigan, is built with Bootstrap. It's mobile friendly and showcases some fun animations built with vanillaJS and JQuery. The design is my own.
This React app let's you coordinate who is bringing what for a potluck!
Using Firebase for the backend, hosting, and authentication made creating this app quite simple and easy.
I hope you're enjoying this website so far. Creating this site was an adventure in flexbox, no front-end frameworks, and design. I wanted to capture my minimalist style and also focus the reader on the important content. Of course, it's mobile friendly with pure CSS.
*I know Squarespace is not developer tech. I included this website for two reasons: First, it is the busness I co-founded in 2016. Second, I learned a lot about UI, design, eCommerce, and the limitations(and advantages) of Squarespace from this project.
This is a very simple todo list app made with JQuery. It features some fun animations that are quite slick and maybe a joke or two ;).
